Here is a direct quote from the small recipe tag that accompanied the asparagus I bought. "Cover grill pan with aluminum foil, lie Asparagus stalks on foil . . ."
I am fully aware that lay has replaced lie for many folks. They don't lie down, they lay down. Oh well.
But is lie now going to replace lay? Lie the book on the table? Lie the asparagus on the foil? Oh, I hope not.

You claim the label said that? That is a total lay! No laying please. I have no patience for layers. Someone should do something about it--you know--lie down the law or something.
I am not lying or laying. I'll display, or displie, the label when next you come to my house.
Sorry, I had to leave my computer. I was so sick I had to go lay in my bed and lie my head on my pillow. I feel much better, now. Laying down does wonders.
